Learning all about The Famine in Primary 6

12th Oct 2022

This week we have been continuing to look at the homes from the 19th century and decided to paint images of these homes. We used a technique called ‘wet-on-wet’ where we sketched the image, then used water to wet the page before painting. When we started to use the paint, the water already on the page allowed us to blend the colours together to create very effective images. We can’t wait to see the finished pieces.
Primary 6 have also been doing research on their favourite Irish recipes. So, we decided to take one of the more popular ones and make some potato bread. We followed the instructions and worked together to make the dough. Then when it was ready, Mrs Quigley carefully fried it on the hob. It was delicious!
