LSC 2
Welcome to LSC 2!
Our class teacher is Miss McNamara and our classroom assistants are Mrs Hanna, Mrs Martin and Mrs Smyth. Together, we work as a team to support, encourage and inspire every child.
In LSC 2, we pride ourselves on providing a small, structured and nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected and excited to learn. In this environment, we ensure that every child’s individual needs are met so they can thrive both academically and socially. Learning in our class is hands-on, practical and personalised to keep children engaged and motivated.
Literacy
In Literacy, we develop skills in reading, writing, talking and listening, with a focus on building confidence and fluency in these areas. In Term 1, our class novel is “The Twits” by Roald Dahl.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we explore number, measures, shape, space and handling data, with plenty of practical activities to help children see how maths connects to real life.
The World Around Us
Our World Around Us topic for Term 1 is “Ancient Greece”. The children will explore myths and legends, democracy, the Olympics, daily life and culture, linking their learning across literacy, numeracy, art, drama and practical projects.
Life Skills
Social skills are a big focus in LSC 2, as we learn how to work with others, build friendships and develop confidence in group settings. Independence is also at the heart of our learning, and one of the ways we encourage this is through our much-loved Friday cookery lessons. These sessions give children the chance to practise important life skills while having fun and enjoying their own creations.
PE
We will be taking part in PE on Mondays and Wednesdays. In Term 1, we will be developing our skills in Gymnastics & Dance.
Music
We are excited for our weekly Music sessions with Mr McVeigh, who will help us to develop our listening and performance skills.
ICT
We will be exploring different elements of ICT, using a range of apps to build our digital skills and make learning fun!
At the core of everything we do is our belief that every child deserves to feel happy, supported and inspired. Our goal is to help pupils grow into confident, independent learners who love coming to school.
