Welcome

As the Principal of St Brigid’s Primary School, I extend to you a very warm welcome to our website.  Through this we aim to give you a flavour of some of the school events, visitors and experiences offered to our children.

St Brigid’s is a Catholic maintained, co-educational primary school, where the children are at the heart of every decision we make and everything we do. We value the great relationships that we have formed with our parents and acknowledge the dedicated work and commitment of the Staff, Governors and Parents Association.

We enjoy a warm, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and it is this distinctive ethos which enables the children to flourish and succeed giving them the skills, attitudes and desire to achieve their full potential.

I hope that you find our website informative and interesting and gain some insight into how we fulfil our school motto: 'Learning and Growing Together'.  If you would like to see our school and experience our ethos I would be delighted to meet with you.

Thank you for visiting our website.

Kind regards

Dolores Miller

Principal

🎨✨ KS2 Art Club Update! ✨🎨 In Art Club, we’ve been exploring the breathtaking mountain landscapes of Jen Aranyi and her incredible use of bold contrast. The children have now completed their final pieces — and they are absolutely stunning! Using strong black pen and ink, the children carefully created striking mountain silhouettes filled with intricate details such as winding paths, trees and textured landscapes. They then brought their artwork to life with beautifully blended watercolour skies. Some chose fiery reds and oranges for dramatic sunset scenes, while others experimented with purples, blues, pinks and even softer pastel tones to create completely different moods and atmospheres. The contrast between the crisp black-and-white foreground and the vibrant skies has created such powerful, eye-catching results. Each piece is unique and truly reflects the children’s individual creativity. As we finished our Jen Aranyi-inspired landscapes, we began our next project exploring Japanese cherry blossoms, inspired by traditional scenes from Japan. The children started by building soft watercolour backgrounds and this week experimented with Indian ink and straws — blowing and shaping the ink to form beautifully natural, twisting branches. There was so much excitement as they watched the ink spread and branch out in unexpected ways! The children have absolutely loved experimenting with different colour palettes, trying new techniques and expressing themselves through art. Their imagination, resilience and growing confidence have been fantastic to see — Art Club continues to be a space full of creativity and fun. We can’t wait to see the finished cherry blossom masterpieces next week! 🌸🖌️✨
✨ CAST REVEAL! ✨🎭 📰🎤 The Reporters — Rocky’s Number‑One News Trackers! 🎤📰 Flash those cameras and sharpen those pencils… because our fabulous media duo is ready to chase every scoop, rumour, and headline about the one and only Rocky! We are excited to announce that the roles of The Reporters will be played by: ⭐ Maya-Rose ⭐ Lucy These two curious journalists want to know EVERYTHING — what Rocky eats for breakfast, what he wears, where he goes, and who his girlfriends are… absolutely no detail is too small! With their quick questions, buzzing microphones, and dramatic news flashes, this dynamic duo will bring sparkle, energy, and lots of laughs to the stage.
🇫🇷 🦁 Exploring Illustrations in P7M 🦁🇫🇷 Using the beautifully detailed illustrations from ‘A Lion in Paris’ by Beatrice Alemagna, the children developed their prediction and inference skills, and showed incredible imagination as they explored possible storylines to accompany each picture. This activity tied in perfectly with our current World Around Us topic on France, and the children loved making creative connections between the book and what they have been learning in class.
