Welcome

As the Principal of St Brigid’s Primary School, I extend to you a very warm welcome to our website.  Through this we aim to give you a flavour of some of the school events, visitors and experiences offered to our children.

St Brigid’s is a Catholic maintained, co-educational primary school, where the children are at the heart of every decision we make and everything we do. We value the great relationships that we have formed with our parents and acknowledge the dedicated work and commitment of the Staff, Governors and Parents Association.

We enjoy a warm, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and it is this distinctive ethos which enables the children to flourish and succeed giving them the skills, attitudes and desire to achieve their full potential.

I hope that you find our website informative and interesting and gain some insight into how we fulfil our school motto: 'Learning and Growing Together'.  If you would like to see our school and experience our ethos I would be delighted to meet with you.

Thank you for visiting our website.

Kind regards

Dolores Miller

Principal

There was a great buzz around school today as we celebrated Autism NI Superhero Week. This week the children in Early Year to Primary 4 have been completing Superhero tasks at home and today we had a Superhero Dress-up Day to help raise understanding of autism in school and at home. 🦸‍♂️ Here is a small selection of the Superhero tasks our children got up to this week 🦸‍♀️ Check out our weekly sway for all the class photos 📸
Our football team had a great time yesterday taking part in the East Down Football League. Well done everyone!⚽️ 🙌

This week our digital leaders have been busy preparing for our Safer Internet Week celebrations that will happen after mid-term. They participated in an online workshop to learn more about this year’s theme:online scams, and are now well equipped to share their new knowledge.
📚🎭National Storytelling Week🎭📚 National Storytelling Week is a celebration of creating and telling stories. Stories provide us with entertainment and escapism. Stories can also be educational; they help to develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, to enhance our vocabularies and to explore and experiment with language. Perhaps most importantly, stories can free our imaginations, help us to develop empathy for other people, and enable us to understand more about ourselves and the world. This year's theme for National Storytelling week is ‘Reimagine your world’. The most extraordinary story can come from the most ordinary place: it just needs someone to find it. To celebrate National Storytelling Week, we welcomed local author and illustrator Rory Rea. Rory hosted a number of interactive storytelling sessions for the children in each year group. It was a fabulous opportunity for the children to hear about Rory’s inspiration for his books and the process involved in writing stories. Many Thanks Rory, a wonderful day. The theme for Children's Mental Health Week 2025 is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. Our Well-being Champions made special little packages for every child in our school with Worry Stones inside. They delivered these to each class along with juice and biscuits. Every class took an extra long break, taking the time to chat and connect with our friends. It is important for our mental health that every child feels loved, accepted and valued within our school.
