Eco-Council
π Eco Action at St Brigid's! π±
We’re thrilled to introduce our Eco-Council – a team of passionate Eco-Warriors who will be working alongside Miss White to make sure our school community appreciates the natural world and acts responsibly towards the environment. π
This year, we’ve elected a brand-new team who will meet every month to share ideas and plan exciting projects that make our school more eco-friendly. Their mission is clear:
β
Promote Reduce, Reuse, Recycle across the school
β
Organise litter picks in our local area (including a recent one with support from McDonald’s!)
β
Take part in Eco workshops to learn and lead
β
Educate classmates about horticulture, saving electricity, and caring for our planet and the benefits of active travel
Our Eco-Council is committed to making a real difference, and we can’t wait to share their progress with you throughout the year. Keep an eye out for updates and photos of their amazing work! πΏ
πΆβοΈ Active Travel – Let’s Get Moving! π΄
This year, we’re putting a big spotlight on Active Travel! We want to encourage pupils and families to walk, cycle, or scoot to school whenever possible. Working in partnership with Sustrans, we aim to:
π± Reduce traffic congestion around our school
π± Improve air quality for everyone
π± Boost health and wellbeing for pupils and families
Our Walking Bus initiative has already been a huge success, with lots of pupils and parents joining in for a fun, healthy start to the day. We’ll be running more Walking Bus events throughout the year, so watch this space for dates!
We’re also exploring plans for a new cycle parking facility to make active journeys even easier. By choosing Active Travel, we’re helping to create a safer, healthier, and happier community for all. π
Have a look at our photos of our recent Walking Bus adventures and community litter pick – plus a big shout-out to our Eco-Council for leading the way!
