Our Trip to HMS Caroline

22nd Feb 2018

As part of our World War One topic Primary 7 and our friends from Downpatrick Primary School went on a trip to see HMS Caroline, which is the last ship afloat that fought at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. We saw a video of what it would have been like to be aboard ship during the battle. We also explored the ship and saw the Captain's and crews' quarters, the mess room and engine room, the ship's hospital and galley and we saw some of the big guns used on the ship. We also explored what the crew ate and wore and saw some of the artefacts that the sailors would have had with them. It was a fantastic day!
